The Power Of The Little Black Book

I know what you are thinking. She is married with children, why does she have a little black book and more importantly why is she admitting to it. It’s not THAT kind of black book, but it is my lifeline.
I have been using my book for years and swear by it. Lately it seems like I have been juggling a lot of extra roles now that we do not have our pod assistant at the office and my book has helped to keep me sane. The book that I use is one that I buy at an art supply store. It is actually an unlined sketch book that is 8.5 x 11 and I have a pretty leather cover that I put over the top.
EVERYTHING goes in this book. Each day I write the date at the top of a fresh page and then I am off. My to do list goes in here, all of my notes from conversations with clients, notes from voice mails, you name it, it’s in there. For me this has solved the whole ‘where did I put that sticky note with the REALLY important information on it’ problem. I know that everything is all in one place so it is just a matter of finding the right day. Also, since I am on the road a lot I will usually sit down at my computer once a week and go through the last few days to make any necessary updates to my database. New clients, phone numbers, emails, etc. I am also a big list person so if I can get all of my thoughts out of my head onto paper then I immediately start feeling more relaxed because now I can see the list and start checking things off. The book even serves as a journal of sorts. Sometimes if I have time before a meeting I will write out some affirmations or goals or brainstorm things for my business. It takes about a year to fill one up so it is also a great form of record keeping.
If you have a way of keeping things organized and together let me know. I am always looking for new ideas.
