Who Is In the Pits With You?

I have what Gary affectionately refers to as my pit crew. (Everything in our house gets some sort of sports reference.) It is my support crew. Gary is the crew chief and it includes a business coach, spiritual coach, accountability partners, great friends and family, hair stylist, masseuse, facialist, naturopath, physical therapist, yoga instructor, chiropractor, personal shopper, house cleaner. . . The list goes on, but you get the idea.
Admittedly I am not engaging all of these people as much as I would like right now, particularly the masseuse and the personal shopper, but they are all still on the roster. Some of it may seem frivolous, but to me each one is invaluable. We always talk about support systems and usually it is in regards to getting help in your business or with the kids but I think that it goes much deeper than that. You need a support system in all areas of your life. I don’t see all of my people regularly, but I have a relationship with each of them and can call on them for help whenever I need it.
Some of the benefits of having a well rounded pit crew include:
~ They are there to give me an outsiders opinion on things when I need one
~ For me I find that it helps me to be more positive and up beat because I know that I have the resources to handle whatever life brings my way
~ I also notice that it helps me move forward in so many ways and not be afraid. I have a very delicate neck. When it goes out I am in bed and barely able to move because it is so painful. It comes and goes so I can go for long stretches of time where it is fine, but then I will have a few weeks or months were it is out a lot. In addition to the pain, I can get frustrated and even scared. Scared that I will have to manage this for the rest of my life and it seems like every time I get momentum going in life my neck goes out and I take a few steps back until I could get it under control again. Now I have a fantastic physical therapist and a great yoga instructor, both of which have helped me tremendously with healing my neck. Now it is getting better and I know that I have the resources to take care of it when it does flare up so I can just address it and move on rather than being scared that it will be this way forever and I will not ever get anywhere.
So build your list and know that no matter what life throws at you that you have the right people in the pits with you to help you through.
