What is Your Goal for the Day?

Spring is here. Chances are that your schedule is filling up fast enough to make your head spin! Add in a round of spring colds and your days just get crazier by the minute.

I don’t know about you but I love the idea of a perfectly planned out week where everything comes together.  The reality, unfortunately, is that I rarely operate my life off of Plan A.  It usually becomes Plan B and, many times, Plan C. The phrase “life is what happens when you are busy making other plans” is never as true as when you have children at home and are running a business.  It’s a little crazy to say the least!

So, how do you actually achieve all of the lofty goals you set for yourself each year when your days are spent adjusting to whatever curve balls come your way?

For me, it’s all about the Top 3.  Each morning I ask myself, “What 3 things do I need to accomplish in order for today to be successful?” Those 3 things might include calling 2 clients, sending out 5 note cards and ordering a postcard to go out to my database.

My daily To Do List may be much longer than that but I know, if I get those 3 things done, I will have been proactive in my business, taken care of what needed to be done and moved forward for the day.  I also know, if need be, I can get all of it done in less than ½ an hour, giving me 23.5 hours left for things to completely fall apart…and yet, I still feel productive for the day!

Give it a try and see how it works. Chances are, you will find yourself feeling much more productive and proactive rather than just running around reacting to whatever comes your way.
