Struggling With Affirmations? Here’s Why
I’ve tried affirmations over the years. Every now and then I’ll connect with one, but for the most part they don’t seem to work for me.
I think it’s because my mind is so logical. It bugs me when things don’t match.
The topic of affirmations came up this week, and I had an ‘aha’ surrounding them. If you are a fan of Abraham Hicks, you know that to create anything you must first raise your vibration / energy to match it in order to attract it. If that seems to woo woo for you, check out Einstein’s explanation:

I realized that is why affirmations don’t seem to click for me. Saying them doesn’t raise my vibration or activate my energy. It just brings on a slew of thoughts about: it hasn’t happened yet, how is it going to happen, can I make it happen? etc.
As with anything, though, small shifts can often open things up in dramatic ways.
If you are struggling with your affirmations try replacing them with “What If” statements.
- What if I earned $500,000 this year?
- What if I had a huge investment portfolio that grew larger every year?
- What if I had a fantastic real estate team to support my business?
Changing things to a what if statement might seem inconsequential, but for me the results are dramatic.
As soon as I start a what if sentence I can feel the doors of possibility open up and my energy goes through the roof. I instantly start dreaming about how things will be. It get excited about what’s to come rather than dreading that it’s not going to work out.
So if you have been struggling with your affirmations, try the what if approach and see what happens.
