The Part of Manifesting Most of Us Miss
As most of you know from Facebook, I’ve been on crutches for the last 6 weeks after foot surgery. It was planned, and all went well, but it’s a long time to be laid up. Especially since it was my right foot, which meant no driving.
And yet, January was the busiest one I’ve had in my 20 year career. There are many things that attributed to that, and I’ll be sharing them in the next few blog posts.
One hint: small actions, done consistently have exponential results.
Today’s momentum post is on the power of receiving. In addition to getting some work done, and watching ridiculous amounts of TV, I read a couple of books.
On of my favorites was The Course in Manifesting. I’m sure you’ve heard of the law of attraction. There are hundreds of books on the topic. This book is along those lines, but it goes one step further and focuses on the art of receiving.
In the book they talk about most of us being so focused on the asking that we forget to make space to actually receive what we want.
I have to admit, this is not one of my strong suits. I am great at asking, but average at receiving. I ask for a new client, and then spend the rest of the day worried that my phone isn’t ringing. If someone pays me a compliment I brush it off. If someone writes me a note card, it might take me a day or two to read it. Weird I know. It has nothing to do with how I feel about the person to sent it, and everything to do with how I feel about myself.
So I decided to start a receiving journal. Kind of a twist on a gratitude journal. Things that I appreciate, but also giving myself credit for letting them in.
This ended up being a perfect time to run my experiment since I had to receive a lot of help while in crutches. Nothing like having the Universe get in there and put you in a position where you have to figure things out.
True to form, what you focus on expands. The more things I gave myself credit for receiving, the more things came my way.
This morning I realized that I was behind on my FORD calls for the week and I set a goal to call 3 people. I was struggling on who I should call. Then I sat down to check the MLS for new listings and properties popped up for 3 different buyers who had put their search on hold. Tadahhh. 3 phone calls done before 10 am. How is that for receiving a little miracle?
And as a bonus, a new referral called about listing their condo. Talk about momentum!
Doing this also keeps me focused on the positive. Last year I spent a lot of time feeling cranky. Agents are under cutting each other and not to be trusted. Clients are not loyal, etc. not the best mindset, and sure enough it affected what I received.
The reality though, is that we all receive miracles every day, we just need to shift our focus them to notice them, appreciate them and make room for more.
