What Does It ‘Mean’ When Things Don’t Go As Planned?
It’s the first question people as when they start doing energy work.
The assumption is that once you start tapping into your energy, everything is always sunshine and roses. So when things don’t go as planned it’s easy to wonder things like – What if it’s not meant to be? What if I’m not worthy? What if I’m not capable?
Spoiler alert – it doesn’t mean any of those things. But it does mean something.
It was one of those weeks for me…
It’s the middle of summer vacation for the boys and I’m prepping properties for the market. I’m asking lots of people for lots of help. The kitchen to be cleaned and laundry put away, the carpet to be installed by a certain date so that the stager can come the next day.
None of it got done.
None of it went as planned.
And in that space of frustration, I had to decide for ME what I wanted this to mean.
Confirmation that it’s not going to work and I should give up. Or an opportunity to show up, tap into my energy and powerfully ask for what I want.
Because it could be either. It’s how I choose to respond that makes the difference.
Energy work doesn’t mean that everything goes exactly the way you want 100% of the time. It means that when things come up, you have more resources available than you did before and are able to handle situations in a way that doesn’t drain your energy or turn you into a negative Nelly.
And so in my mind I chose to say Thank You to the boys, the contractor and the Universe for giving me the perfect opportunity to practice what I preach and commit to which path I truly want to be on.
Which meant speaking up and being very clear about what I needed. And then letting go and giving them the space to step up. I was able to keep my energy clear and go about my day without being anxious or stressed. And they did step. The kitchen is clean and the carpet is in.
Energy increases our capacity to take on more, without being bogged down, stressed out and overwhelmed.
So the next time you have one of ‘those’ weeks, or days or even moments? Remember, it’s an opportunity for you to decide how you want to show up. It’s an opportunity to practice tapping into your energy.
To your success!
