Breaking News, 5am Doesn’t Have To Be A Thing

I posted a reel on instagram this week that got a surprising amount of feedback. Surprising in how grateful people were to finally have someone admit the truth.

You don’t have to be part of the 5am club to be successful.

Did your shoulders relax just a little when you read that? I hope so.

There are incredibly successful people who don’t know that 5am exists. And that is what makes the world such a beautiful place. You get to do success your way.

Success is a funny thing though. We show up and say: Tell me I should do to be successful and I’ll do it. We want the formula, or the road map – thinking that if we just follow in the footsteps of others, it will work for us too. Which makes sense. Why reinvent the wheel?

But there isn’t a one size fits all way to get there. And if you get advice that doesn’t work for you, it can derail you before you have a chance to get going. Because the 5am er’s will make you believe that if you aren’t up that early you don’t stand a chance of being successful. And while that is their truth, it’s not the only truth.

I have found the best way to take advice is to look at the principles behind it and then figure out how to adjust it for my own unique style.

The principles behind the 5am club are solid:

  • Have a series of activities that pro actively set your energy and intention for the day
  • Do them when you first get up and before you are distracted by the day
  • By doing this you are showing yourself and the world that you are committed to your goals

It’s the equivalent of putting you on offense vs defense.

When your energy is positive and you are intentionally focused, and you show up better. Versus being in reaction mode, letting everyone else dictate how your day should go.

Your morning routine is the equivalent of a good luck charm.

So while you don’t have to be up at 5am, it’s worth taking 15 minutes to set your energy before you get rolling.

If you don’t have a morning routine in place, see if you can go 15 minutes before you pick up your phone. And in that time can you:

  • Write or say 3 things you are grateful for
  • Do a couple of stretches to get your blood flowing
  • Set your intention for the day

That 15 minutes will have a positive impact on the rest of your day. Trust me, your day can wait 15 minutes, no matter what time you get up.

Feeling like you are off your game and could use a little help? Join the Create Your Own Luck event on March 21st that I’m hosting with Elly McKenzie. We are talking about morning routines, energy, mindset and a whole host of other ways to can make your business easier – aka Luckier. Our specialty is helping you understand and implement the principles in a way that actually works. It’s the equivalent of stacking the odds in your favor that will have everyone else guessing what your lucky charm is.

To your success!
Nicole

It’s Not Just Your Story – It’s Everyone Else’s Too

August 28, 2026

I’ve spent years working on my own limiting beliefs — but I discovered one at the Abraham Hicks workshop last weekend that I had completely missed. Esther, aka Abraham Hicks, has been a leader in mindset, energy, and attraction for decades. My mom actually took my sister and me to a workshop 30 years ago,…

Bet On Yourself VS The Market

August 21, 2026

Last week I shared how the end of August is a weird time – wanting to savor summer, while also shifting back into work mode. Turns out I’m not the only one this happens to! Thank you for all of the notes and feedback. I’ve found that when I’m not taking action, I spend WAY…

I Used To Dread The Last 2 Weeks Of August

August 14, 2026

Thirty years in real estate has taught me a lot of things. One of the best is this: I can finally see my own patterns. Like the one where I get twitchy every year mid-August. Part of me wants summer to stretch on forever. Part of me is itching for routine, order, and the satisfaction…

Beliefs = Actions = Results – It Matters Where You Start

August 7, 2026

August is an interesting month for me. I’m savoring the relaxed pace of summer, while also starting to think about Fall and shifting back into work mode. With a shift in focus I naturally start wondering what will happen. Will I be busy? Where will my clients come from? Will they be buyers or sellers?…

What Do You LOVE About Your Business?

July 24, 2026

I’m back!!! There’s been a lot going on lately, (more on that in a later post) and it’s been a few weeks since I’ve sent you a note. Needless to say, I’ve missed you! I’ve been moving through a lot of ‘life’ lately, and there’s been a common thread in my business that has surprised…

How Do You Want Summer To Feel?

June 19, 2026

Summer is often a season of expectations not meeting reality. I used to think my perfect summer meant iced tea on the patio while reading every day. For the record, that’s never happened. And for a while, I felt bad about it — like I was missing out, like I was doing summer wrong. Until…

You’re Not Behind, There Are Infinite Options

June 12, 2026

Your in box is about to fill up with emails about us being 1/2 through the year. You know – the ones that ask if you’re on track with your goals, and offer a solution to whip you into shape for the next 6 months. If you are having a great year – I celebrate…

Letting Go Of The Hustle Sounds Great, But You’ve Got a Business To Run

May 29, 2026

To be clear, I am 100% for less hustle, more flow, manifesting, receiving, regulating my nervous system, and letting things be easier. But somewhere between: “That sounds amazing” and “I’m a real estate agent – I need to generate clients and sell houses to earn an income” Things can get confusing. Because no matter how…

The Beauty of Not Doing It Alone

May 22, 2026

Thank you for being part of this community! I learned something beautiful and powerful last week. It was vulnerable to post about recalibrating, and being in the messy middle of grieving. Yet the conversations, emails, texts and notes have meant to much. To know that we are not alone is one of the greatest gifts…

Recalibrate In a Business That Runs 24/7

May 15, 2026

It happens to me every year about this time. The need to recalibrate. In a business that can run 24/7 – it’s easy to look up one day and realize, your batteries are drained and there’s no break in sight. Side note – It doesn’t have to be a 24/7 thing, but that’s a topic…
