Spoiler Alert: You Don’t Have to Have It All Figured Out

As I child I used to think: Being an adult must be great, they always know what to do and say.
I’ve been an adult for a while now, and – I still don’t always know what to do or say.
Doubt, fear, and uncertainty pop up on a regular basis. For years I assumed this meant the timing wasn’t right and I needed to wait until I felt certain, confident and clear before taking action. There are so many things I didn’t follow through on because of this.
Yet when I look at my successes, and I’ve been fortunate to have many of them, they all have 3 things in common:
- I didn’t have a crystal clear vision with all the answers in the beginning
- I had a lot of self doubt, fear and uncertainty
- I had a coach
For me at least, all of these are part of the process. Do I wish that I woke up every day beaming with confidence and with a crystal clear path? Of course. And some days I do. But there are just as many days where the vision is murky and the confidence level is more of an ‘I hope I can do this’ level.
I have found that if I commit to taking a step forward each day, things come together. The vision will evolve, it’s meant to. So don’t worry about having it all figured out. You only need to know the next step, which will lead you to the one after that, and so on.
Self doubt, fear and uncertainty show up because you are trying something new. They are a normal part of the process. The next time they pop up – try acknowledging them, thanking them for the reminder that you are on the right path, and then let them go.
When you do these and combine them with having a coach or being part of a mastermind group, that’s when the magic happens. It’s easier to take the action, quiet the doubts and trust the process. If I was struggling in my business right now, and I wasn’t already working with a coach or in a mastermind group – I would spend money there before I would spend it on marketing. That is how big of a difference I think it makes.
More than anything, if you are experiencing any of this. Know that you are not alone. It’s part of the process. You’ve got this.
To your success!
