Why Free Time Scare Us
Have you ever wished for more free time? What would you do?
Would you leisurely enjoy your coffee in the morning knowing that you don’t have to rush off to an over booked day? Spend time on your hobbies, or to finally get one? Or maybe you would check things off your project list which only seems to get longer.
Have you ever found yourself with that precious open space on your calendar only to wonder – What do I do now? What am I missing out on? Am I falling behind?
Been there, done that.
In fact I’ve been noticing it in myself lately now that the market isn’t moving as fast. There’s space in my calendar. Space I crave, and yet I don’t always know what to do with it.
And then I realized there were 2 things in play:
- We spend so much of our lives personally and professionally waiting and then reacting. Waiting for inventory to come on the market, for interest to do whatever they are going to do, for buyers to decide ‘this is the one’, for kids to get their homework done, etc. At some point in our lives we switched from offense – believing we could affect the world around us to defense – responding to whatever comes our way, but not having a whole lot of say in what and when that is.
- Because we are in defensive mode so often, we have forgotten what it’s like to have a clear vision to move towards and to back it up with a belief that it will happen.
So if you have been reacting, it’s time to switch from defense to offense. Here are 2 things you can do to help:
- Get clear on your vision. Not just how much money you want to make, but what is your real vision. What do you want your life to look like? Your business? All of it. Make it a game and try out different versions until you land on the one that feels right.
- Take 1 pro active action a day. It could be working out, calling a client. Something that makes you feel accomplished and like you moved the needle forward in support of your vision.
Now follow it up with – What if all of this were possible – and more!
To your success!

I don’t have a singular word for 2026. Instead I have a mantra: Let Go Of What’s Possible. How often do you set an intention, even a small one, and then instantly run it through the filter of what’s possible? That one word – possible – takes you down the rabbit hole of – are…
