How Lowering Your Bar Can Help You Reach Your Goals

January holds a special mix of big dreams and deep insecurity for a lot of agents. If you find yourself toggling between the two – know that you’re not alone.

We usually associate big dreams with big actions. So we make long to do lists as proof of our commitment to increasing our income.

Often in the top 5 of things to do – call more clients.  Hint: Real Estate is a contact sport. To do more business you need to connect with more people.

I often see agents try to go from 0 calls in the last 6 months to 10 calls a day.  And this is where it all falls apart, and the insecurity takes over.

Insecurity shows up in the form of not knowing who to call, if they will even remember who we are, and if doing something that makes us so uncomfortable will actually work.

Spoiler alert – I can tell you from 29 years in real estate, calling your clients is THE quicket and most cost effective way to grow your business. For the record, I still resist making the calls. And it’s not just me – Season 2 of The Secrets to Attracting Clients Series launches at the end of this month and EVERY agent interviewed credits phone calls to being integral to their success.

Back to lowering the bar and your goal to call 10 people a day. It’s only a matter of time before you start coming up with reasons not to call – you’re too busy, your database isn’t big enough, etc. Sooner vs later you are back to 0 calls a day.

What if you lowered the bar to 1 call a day and followed through on that all year long? The impact on your business would be exponential.

Let your mantra for 2025 be consistency over quantity. The results are in the follow through.
