What If Everything is An Experiment?

I’ll admit it, I’m not great at asking for help. Even when I know I need it.
There are a variety of reason I struggle with asking:
- I’m busy and taking a step back to asses what I can outsource feels like one more task I don’t have time for.
- The task is something I’m not good at, so I’m not sure how to even ask for what I need.
- I’m a bit disorganized, so the thought of pulling things together for someone else feels daunting.
- Sometimes it feels frivolous. I mean I could do it, I just don’t want to.
Needless to say, I spend a lot of time overthinking things, afraid to let go and end up doing them myself, even when I’m not the best person for the job.
It’s time to up level and get some help.
As I was looking at my overflowing to do list this week and doing my typical overwhelm / overthinking dance, I realized I was putting WAY too much pressure on myself to figure it out. I was more worried about not messing up than with finding a solution.
What if I treated it as an experiment?
Experiments are less pressure. There aren’t pass / fail. They are moments in time that provide information and guidance for going forward. Something worked? Awesome – let’s do it again. Something didn’t work? No big deal, let’s evaluate and adjust as necessary.
Ahhhh, I can feel my shoulders relaxing already.
From the space of things being an experiment – I was able to reach out to some people this week to help with various things. I’m excited and hopeful that it will all work out. If not, the door is open for us to adjust until we get it right.
It’s been a good reminder of the pressures we put on ourselves, that don’t need to be there.
What can you experiment with this week?
To your success!
Nicole
