Summer Edit For Your Business
True confession – in a perfect world, I’d take off from Memorial Day to Labor Day every year. The time would be spent outside with family and friends talking, laughing, playing and loving life.
I have yet to achieve my perfect world summer – which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It means I get to work with really amazing clients – helping them buy and sell real estate.
Rather than pout about working during the summer, I use my motivation to take time off to do a deep edit on my business. What can I let go of that isn’t working? What can I do differently for better benefits?
Here’s what’s on the edit list this year:
- Feeling like I need to be in front of a screen all day. Whether it’s my laptop or phone, I clock a lot of screen time. Summer is a great time to connect with people IRL – so back away from the screen and connect with people in real time.
- Filling my calendar with endless appointments just to say I’m busy. I used to feel like I had to say yes to everything. Only to show up not present and wonder why I had committed to something that wasn’t a good fit. This summer I’m only saying yes to things that make me happy and fill my soul.
- Thinking that work and play are separate. That coffee you had with a friend last week that turned into a referral? That’s what building a referral based business is all about. It doesn’t have to be endless hours locked in an office cold calling for your next client. It’s about connection in all areas of your life, and trusting that business will come from it.
How about you? What edits are you making in your business right now?
To your success!

3 No Cost Ways To Attract Clients
This week we are going tactical. Good energy gets you in the right space to work with clients. But how do you actually find them? Here are my top 3: When we are slow, it’s easy for our confidence to dip, and when that happens we hibernate. Just like the flowers in spring, it’s time…
I See Your Doubt, A Message To My Younger Self
The year has officially begun. New listings are popping up everywhere. I haven’t sold anything yet. It’s common for my year to start a little slow. My business typically ramps up in April. In the past, my confidence would tank as I compared myself to others. This year is different. Some of this comes from…
The Neuroscience Behind Proof It’s Working
I’ve been talking a lot about finding Proof That Things Are Working in your daily life. Deliberately looking for moments where things are working out has a powerful effect on your energy, mindset, and the results you achieve. And it is backed by neuroscience. When we look for the good, it trains your brain what…
What To Do When Everyone Else Is Winning – And You Aren’t
First, I’d say – you’re being way too hard on yourself. It’s more likely that you’ve had wins, and missed them. This came up in my Proof It’s Working (PIW) group this week. What do you do when it feels like nothing is working, and you don’t see any wins? Step 1: Redefine what Proof…
Do Something Today Your Future Self With Thank You For
We assume that success comes in big waves. We search endlessly for the one thing that will unlock the door to whatever it is we want. But, that’s not how success works. Success is a series of actions. It’s showing up consistently. It’s doing what needs to be done. It’s taking care of yourself mentally,…
Reacting vs Creating: Which Mode Are You In?
How you show up and respond to life has a greater impact than we often realize. Are you constantly in reaction mode throughout the day? If so, you are essentially giving your power away. Letting outside forces determine what happens in your life, how you feel, and the impact things have. Or Do you wake…
3 Things That Make The Biggest Difference In My Business
The topic of the week has been goals and business planning. Nancy and I released a new podcast episode around goals. If your relationship with goal setting is ‘complicated’ this episode is for you. When it comes to business planning, I’m a big pictures person. Drilling down to small details stresses me out. Instead I…
Let 2026 Be The Year You Let Go Of What’s Possible
I don’t have a singular word for 2026. Instead I have a mantra: Let Go Of What’s Possible. How often do you set an intention, even a small one, and then instantly run it through the filter of what’s possible? That one word – possible – takes you down the rabbit hole of – are…
My Favorite New Years Traditions
I absolutely love New Years Eve and New Years Day. There is something special about flipping the page from one year to the next. It’s a time to honor what has happened, and lean into the joy and excitement of what’s to come. While we usually do something New Years Eve, I’m not a big…
3 Things I’m Doing Differently This Holiday Season
I love the last 2 weeks of the year – sorta. The holidays are beautiful and spazzy all at the same time. I love Christmas with the family, and getting together with friends. Yet December can leave me feeling depleted, and like I’m spinning in circles going no where. It’s an interesting time for a…
