There’s Enough For Everyone

It’s a busy market. Listings are scarce and buyers are competing on virtually any house they write an offer on.
Depending on your outlook, things can seem a bit bleak. Like there isn’t enough to go around.
Some agents are doing incredibly well, and others are feeling like they’re missing the boat. When that happens, it’s easy to panic, which affects how you show up to your appointments, and your ability to negotiate effectively for your clients.
Instead of service being the main focus it’s me vs them. Someone has to win and someone has to loose.
Pretty soon it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy of missed listings, frustrated buyers and lost offers.
Here’s something to consider though, in 2016, which was one of the lowest inventory markets on record, there were 98,000 recorded sales in the Northwest Multiple Listing Service. That’s 196,000 commissions paid if you consider that there is a buyer and seller commission with each transaction.
Seem like it’s too good to be true, or that it isn’t relevant since our MLS is so big? In area 560, which is mainly Kirkland and Bridle Trails, there were just over 1,300 sales, or 2,600 commissions. And that’s just one area. You might not cover the entire MLS, but I’m sure that you cover more than one MLS area.
This market is one where you have to focus on the positive things, and the ones that are going your way.
Here are 3 things you can do to increase your abundance mindset:
- Track the new listings. I’ve been amazed at the number and quality of new listings that have come on the market in January. It is much more than normal.
- Focus on what makes you great. You are not competing against other agents, you are competing against yourself. Showing up and being the best you, that you can be will go much further than trying to beat someone else at their own game.
- Focus on the good things in your life. Gratitude brings with it more to be grateful for.
More than anything, know that there is always enough to go around. You have what it takes to be successful in this market.
Play to your strengths and stop listening to others that whine about how hard it is.
There are sales that will happen this year. Your job is to make sure that your name is attached to some of them.
To your success!

What If Everything is An Experiment?
I’ll admit it, I’m not great at asking for help. Even when I know I need it. There are a variety of reason I struggle with asking: I’m busy and taking a step back to asses what I can outsource feels like one more task I don’t have time for. The task is something I’m…
