Confidence Before Success, and Other Lies I Used To Believe
It’s the classic chicken and the egg debate. What comes first – confidence or success?
Or better yet – how ‘successful’ do you need to be before you feel confident?
I’ve missed out on a lot of great opportunities in my career because I didn’t feel confident. Referrals I didn’t follow up on. Fees that I reduced because I didn’t value myself fully, so why should they? Appointments that would have gone differently if I had shown up better.
It’s like I was waiting for some imaginary fairy godmother to show up and deem me worthy.
- Worthy of charging my full fee
- Worthy of selling higher end homes
- Worthy of standing my ground when my clients questioned my process
I lacked confidence big time, and I was stuck.
Stuck hustling. Stuck working long hours. Stuck earning good money when I should have been making great money. Stuck missing time with my family.
Until someone helped me realize that confidence is an inside job. And just like C comes before S in the alphabet. Confidence comes before Success in business.
YOU are the one that decides the price points you work, the fees you charge, the number of transactions you do, and the hours you work.
But here’s the thing. While you don’t need outside validation. You might benefit from an outside coach, because when it comes to shifting your energy from lack to confidence it’s tricky to do on your own.
