The Eye of The Storm
Perhaps you’ve heard the phrase before. The eye of the storm is the center of a tornado or hurricane. That space in the very middle where everything is completely calm. Even with all of the chaos swirling around it.
Is it just me, or does anyone else feel like they have a lot going on right now? Admittedly, comparing life to a tornado or hurricane is a bit dramatic, but May heading into June is a busy time.
Valerie Garcia, one of my all time favorite speakers called it May-cember in her recent newsletter. That time when schedules are full and we keep telling ourselves to ‘just get through it’ and things will calm down in 2 weeks. I’ll get back on track, caught up, refocused, etc, in a few weeks. I just need to power through right now.
I caught myself laughing realizing she had perfectly described my life in this moment.
For the record, I love everything about my life. It’s filled with many beautiful things, so this doesn’t need to mean that anything bad is happening, but a lot is still a lot. When I look at my calendar, there isn’t as much open space as I typically like. (For the record that may be somewhat of a good thing because I’m a lot more focused and getting more done in less time, but that’s a topic for another post.)
I’m noticing that my tendency right now is to over commit. To fill the spaces in my calendar because I can. Which means there are things I’m putting off. Actions I’m not taking that will get me closer to my goals.
And so with all of it. The full schedule, the gratitude of all that is there, it’s also important to take a step back. Or better yet, a step within. To check in. To be the eye of the storm.
To ask questions like:
- Is this serving me?
- Does it bring me joy?
- Am I nurturing myself?
- Does this need to be done?
- Does it need to be done by me?
- What is the smallest action I can take today to continually move me towards my goals?
I’m curious? What questions do you ask yourself when life gets busy? How do you decide what makes it on the calendar and what doesn’t?
To your success!

Treat Everything As Proof That It’s Working
Admittedly it’s sometimes easier said than done. However, your ability to do this determines your success, happiness, and your ability to not burn out. When things are going your way, it’s easy to find evidence of success, and believe the Universe has your back. But what about the ones that don’t go your way? At…

It’s been a beautifully busy month filled with events, travel and time with friends old and new. As an extroverted introvert I LOVE spending time with others. We’ve all been there. Stuck, burned out, frustrated. Or maybe it’s not that bad, but you’re quietly tolerating the business you have, while sacrificing the life you want. Either way, it’s time for a change. I get it. I’ve been there – a couple of times. Any time I needed a shift, I assumed it…

It’s the classic chicken and the egg debate. What comes first – confidence or success? Or better yet – how ‘successful’ do you need to be before you feel confident? I’ve missed out on a lot of great opportunities in my career because I didn’t feel confident. Referrals I didn’t follow up on. Fees that…

Years ago, I spent months with some clients looking for investment properties – and got absolutely no where. We spent hours looking at houses, and I hated every minute of it. I could tell you they were awful clients. They weren’t. I could say they weren’t true buyers. They were. I could tell you the…

The kids are back in school, and it’s time to get back to work. Fall is often the my most productive time of year in real estate. But it wasn’t always. There’s an odd dynamic that happens as the market heats back up, and the clock ticks with only so many days left in the…

We are officially empty nesters. Ryan moved into his dorm yesterday, and we came home to a really quiet house. This last month of getting the boys settled has had some interesting twists and turns. It’s been a fantastic reminder that our job is to focus on what we want, and then let go of…

It’s no secret – I’m a little bit woo. Actually a lot woo. Most mornings I ask the Universe: What do you want me to know that will support me with my day? Then I draw a card. This week I drew the Butterfly card. A symbol of transformation, good things to come and acknowledgement…
