When You’re Behind, Ready To Take On The World, And Everything Is On Hold
It happens every single time!
Fortunately I know it’s a pattern so I’m not completely freaking out, but it goes a little something like this:
June – school gets out and all is right with the world. I’m done with routines, ready for better weather and to spend time with the boys. It’s awesome. Until right about now.
The house is a mess, the laundry is never ending, and I’m pretty sure I haven’t completed a task in weeks.
My energy is off big time!
In years past, the 3rd week in August has been marked by me getting super cranky with anyone and everyone.
Fortunately, now I’m able to recognize it for what it is:
A pattern and something that shows me when my energy is off with an opportunity to reset. And while this recognition is awesome – school doesn’t start for another 10 days.
Which begs the question, how do you manage and shift your energy when you can’t change the world around you?
Here are some things that help me:
- Ease back into regular workouts – carving out time for daily workouts isn’t happening right now. But I can take the dogs on longer walks, do a few yoga stretches and find one or two days a week that I can make it to the gym.
- Clean up my diet – hello lemon water and roasted veggies / goodbye well everything else I’ve been eating and drinking for the last 2 months
- Journal or meditate in the morning. I would love time for both, but even 5 minutes spent on one or the other resets my energy and helps the entire day go better.
- Focus on gratitude! My life is FILLED with things to be grateful for. Laundry and messy houses don’t last. Memories of time spent with loved ones does.
- As an introvert, I need to balance time spent with others with time spent alone. I’ve gotten better about saying no to things when I can tell my energy is low.
Managing your energy is about awareness and action. Awareness that taking care of yourself is important. It affects how you show up and all of your interactions. And then finding small actions that help shift your energy the most.
I’ve talked to several people this week who are spinning with the NAR rules that went into effect this week. It’s got a lot of agents wondering what’s next and how to navigate the landscape ahead.
If this is you, I’m excited to invite you to: Navigating The NAR Changes, a class that I’m doing with Erin Bradley and Jennifer Myers. We have teamed up for a 4 part class that will have you sailing through the changes and grateful that this is your chance to shine.
Click here for more details and to join us starting September 11th. The classes are via zoom and the recordings will be sent out if you can’t make it live.
So your success!
